Oakhurst, CA: The 2007 Southern Yosemite Automotive Film Festival; Presented by the Chukchansi Gold Resort and Casino. Featuring automotive related films from the 50’s through today, the film festival offers something for everyone. Film legend James Garner will be the recipient of the “Southern Yosemite Lifetime Achievement Award” for his work in automotive films. Both “Grand Prix” and his documentary “A Racing Season” will be screened. And, now you can see hard to find films like “Hot Rods To Hell” from 1967 on a big screen, as well as perennial favorites such as “LeMans” and “Days of Thunder” and some new, almost never before seen films such as the Austin Film Festival’s winner, “Dirt” and John Schneider’s “Collier & Co. All films are shown at the Met Cinema in downtown Oakhurst. The complete schedule of more than 24 films can be seen at www.southernyosemite.com. Film festival week also includes displays of vintage, antique and exotic cars, automobilia and souvenir vendors, celebrity autograph signings featuring stars and well known racers and more, limited access cocktail parties, wine tasting from local wineries and other auto related events. To complete film festival week, tours of Yosemite National Park, ski outings, golf tournaments, train rides on the Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railway, hosted trips to the local Chukchansi Gold Resort and Casino and a variety of family oriented events are available. Special accommodation packages with film festival and special event tickets are available through the Oakhurst Chamber of Commerce, www.oakhurstchamber.com.
