- Costa Mesa, CA: Tour d’Orange; Officially the first car event of the year, this will be the 5th edition of the Tour d’Orange. Over 350 cars participated last year, expect the same this year. Meet on Red Hill Ave. between the “Auto Kennel” and Newport Shelby. The Auto Kennel is located at 3001 Red Hill Ave., Bldg 6, Suite 109. Newport Shelby is at the corner of Red Hill Ave. and Fischer Ave. Parking lots at the Auto Kennel and Newport Shelby. Lots of street parking on Fischer Ave. Map can be found HERE. Bradenton FL: DeSoto Raceway Car Show: The Desoto Super Speedway in conjunction with AutomotiveDirect is putting together an actual record seeking Guinness Book Of Records super sized car show event that will encompass nearly 200 available acres for over 8,500 registered show cars, trucks and motorcycles! There will also be plenty of great food and beverages available on site throughout the weekend but there are so many great restaurants and fast food locations nearby, we couldn’t possibly name them all. Although many of the local businesses and restaurants will be honoring the car show wrist band as an automatic discount off your meals and other purchases. Bradenton FL is just immediately north of Sarasota FL and just south of St. Petersburg/Clearwater and Tampa FL. With miles of perfect beaches, the beautiful blue Gulf waters, and an incredible amount of attractions and activities nearby like St. Armands Circle, Ringling Bros Museum, Anna Marie Island, Clearwater Beach, Busch Gardens, The Mote Museum, fishing, golf, warm and sunny weather and all within about a hours drive or less of the race track, this could easily become a week long vacation along with this car show. There will be over 800 of the finest classic, muscle, low rider, custom, race, exotic, and chick cars, rods, trucks, motorcycles, and vintage fire trucks from all over the country. This fun, family event will feature a large raffle, silent auction, 50/50 drawing, music, exhibitors, and food. Selma, CA: Second Annual Collector Car Parts and Used Big Boy Toy sale Collector Car Parts Sale: Hosted by the Reedley Blossom Trail A’s. The event will be open to the public from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 1, while vendors will get the chance to check in and set up from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Feb. 28-29. El Centro, CA: 2008 NAF El Centro Air Show; At the Naval Air Facility. Nearly seven hours of performances by the world's best military and civilian pilots will entertain spectators at the 2008 NAF Air Show in El Centro on Saturday, March 8. This year's event includes the world-famous Blue Angels as well as civilian aerobatic performers. In addition to the above ground entertainment, over 50 military and civilian aircraft will be on display along with flight simulation rides and souvenir and food vendors. Beginning at 5:00 p.m., a Food Festival with live entertainment and fireworks display will take place near Hangar 6. Tickets to the Festival are $5/person and include sampling of foods from Imperial Valley eateries. Palm Springs; Palms Springs SunUp Rotary Show 'n Shine Car Show & Chili Cook Off; The event takes place at Pavilion Field located on Baristo Rd, just off Sunrise (near Ramon) and adjacent to Palm Springs High School and the city of Palm Springs Swim Center. Open to pre-1973 cars and specialty vehicles. There will be hot dogs, hot chili and refreshments. Oakhurst, CA: Yosemite Automotive Film Festival; Bruce Kessler, producer/director of the first automobile documentary will be the honored for his work in automotive films at the 2008 Yosemite Automotive Film Festival. The Festival will present a unique collection of automotive films and include displays of historical racing events, automobile memorabilia, celebrity book signing's and a show of vintage, antique and exotic cars. The Film Festival lineup includes such films as "Thunder Road" starring Robert Mitchum, and "LeMans" starring Steve McQueen. Several of the films contain rarely seen stock footage of events at racetracks in the U.S. and throughout Europe. In addition to a very special mix of films, attendees are invited to meet with professional race car drivers, film directors, authors, celebrities as well as industry experts that were responsible for the distribution of the classic 1966 film "Grand Prix." Bruce Kessler, the 2008 Film Festival honoree directed and produced one of the early auto racing documentaries. "Sound of Speed" the first automotive racing film of its kind, was awarded at the Cannes Film Festival. Another highlight of the week will be the presentation of the Lee Iacocca Foundation Award, presented for exemplary contributions to the automotive sport and community service. Fontana, CA: Super Chevy Show; The Super Chevy Show makes a tour stop at the Auto Club Dragway at California Speedway in Fontana the end of the month—March 28-30. Super Chevy’s bracket classes are open to ALL GM vehicles and the bracket designations fall in line with PDD brackets. The Procharger bracket is for slicks and electronics, the Jeg’s bracket is for slicks with NO electronics and the NitroPlate DOT Street Fight is for DOT tires and mufflers (no electronics). Saturday are the “time trials” with “eliminations” taking place on Sunday. You can come in on Friday and “test ‘n tune” for an additional $25.
