Pomona, CA: Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum Indian Motorcycle Day; 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM. Over 20,000 motorcycles will be cruising into the Pomona Fairplex for California Bike Week, but not without stopping at the NHRA Motorsports Museum to meet up with Sam Wheeler, special guest at the Museum's Indian Motorcycle Day. Wheeler will giving a talk on his 2006 ride at the Bonneville Salt Flats, where he attained the fastest speed ever recorded on a motorcycle; he attained a speed of 355.303 on the Kawasaki-powered EZ Hook Motorcycle Streamliner. Wheeler's talk will focus on what it takes to engineer, build and ride a motorcycle that can reach over 300 MPH. Show up in a pre 1968 motorcycle and admission is free to Biker Week festivities and the NHRA Motorsports Museum (Saturday only). Otherwise admission to the Museum is $6 for adults; $4 for seniors and juniors ages 6-15, and free to children under the age of 5. Los Angeles, CA: Cops for Tots Car Show; Over 50 trophies will be awarded at the 13th Annual Cops For Tots Car Show held at the Los Angeles Police Academy. Organized by the LAPD Central Traffic Division, the car show will feature over 500 vehicles as well as displays from the Special Weapons and Tactics Unit. Admission is free with proceeds benefiting children's charities throughout the city of Los Angeles. Gates open at 7:00 a.m., with the show beginning at 8:00 and ending at 4:00 p.m. Entry fee is $30 per vehicle. The Los Angeles Police Academy is located at 1880 North Academy Road in Los Angeles. Irwindale, CA: Hot VW's Drag Day; Gates open at 7:00 a.m., for Hot VW Drag Day at Irwindale Speedway. Palm Desert, CA: Golf Cart Car Show; The annual Palm Desert Golf Cart Parade has added a golf cart car show to the lineup of activities for 2008. Open to all electric or solar vehicles, the show will include both private owned cars as well as electric and solar car entries from dealers showing off the latest in green machines. The golf cart car show takes place at the end of the parade route, on El Paseo between San Pablo and San Luis Rey. The parade begins at 10:00 a.m. and runs along El Paseo in Palm Desert. Los Alamitos, CA: Seventh Annual "Wings, Wheels and Rotors Expo": At the Army Airfield of the Joint Forces Training Base from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sponsored by the JFTB and the Los Alamitos Area Chamber of Commerce. The event features civilian and military aircraft and helicopters in static display, plus a car show of classic, custom, hot rods and motorcycles, plus customized bicycles on more than a million square feet of the airfield. Yucca Valley, CA: Fifth annual Toys For Tots Bike Run; gets underway at 8:00 a.m. at Hutchins Motor Sports. Participants in this annual holiday run will make four stops beginning at Hutchins Motor Sports and ending at Luckie Park in 29 Palms for a barbecue prepared by the Joshua Springs Men's Ministry. Radio DJ's from Z107.7 will provide entertainment throughout the day, and prizes will be awarded for entries in the motorcycle show and display. All motorcycles are invited to enter. Entry fee for the 2-hour run and barbecue is a new, unwrapped toy that will be given to needy children during the Christmas holidays. Chino, CA: Battle For Guadalcanal; The Planes of Fame Air Museum will present a seminar on America's first offensive battle in the Pacific. The Battle for Guadalcanal begins at 10:00am and includes a flight demonstration featuring a Japanese Mitsubishi A6M5 Zero Fighter -- the ONLY original flying Zero! The Planes of Fame Air Museum houses approximately 150 historical aircraft preserved and kept in flying condition by a staff of volunteers dedicated to keeping the history of American aircraft alive for future generations. Los Angeles, CA: Treasures of the Vault: A collection of rarely seen vehicles are currently on display at the "Treasures of the Vault" exhibit at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles. The exhibit showcases a total of 17 automobiles including a 1925 Rolls-Royce Phantom; 1948 Tucker; 1913 Mercer, and 1947 Cisitalia.
